SUMMARY:UCAI 2021
DESCRIPTION:Call for Papers\n\nThe proliferation of AI-based techniques pos
es a range of new challenges for the design and engineering of intelligent
and adaptive systems since they tend to act as black boxes and do not offer
the user sufficient transparency, control, and interaction opportunities,
which are considered major goals of user-centered design in the HCI field.
The 2nd Workshop on User-Centered Artificial Intelligence (UCAI ’21), held
in conjunction with the 2021 Mensch und Computer conference, aims at sharin
g and discussing recent developments at the intersection of HCI and AI, and
at exploring novel methodological, technical, and interaction approaches.
The full-day workshop will feature oral or poster presentations of accepted
full and position papers, respectively, and is intended to encourage discu
ssion, networking and advancing the research agenda in this emerging field
 of research.\n\nImportant Dates\n\n Submission deadline: June 18th, 2021
 Notification: July 5th, 2021 Camera-ready deadline: July 9th, 2021 \n\nOrg
anizers\n\n Daniel Buschek, University of Bayreuth, Germany Benedikt Loep
p, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany Hanna Hauptmann (Schäfer), Utrech

n of position papers of 2 pages and full papers of 4-6 pages in length (exc
luding references). Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:\n\n
transparent and explainable AI-based systems personalization, recommenda
tion and adaptation UI paradigms for interacting with intelligent algorith
ms presentation and interaction design for AI-based systems user control
of intelligent algorithms mixed-initiative interaction user-centric evalu
ation of AI-based systems ethical and legal aspects of AI-based systems \n
\nPapers should be prepared according to the ACM template used by the main
conference, but in the two-column “sigconf” format, and submitted in either
German or English language via ConfTool. All submissions will be peer-revi
ewed by at least two committee members (single-blind, i.e. anonymization is
not required). For accepted papers, at least one author must attend the wo
rkshop to present the work (virtual participation will be possible in case
of travel restrictions). Accepted papers will be published in the Mensch un
d Computer Workshop Proceedings as open access publications available throu
gh the GI digital library.\n\nFurther details can be found here.
